To the crew and all connected to the good ship USS Savage DE/DER386,

Congratulations on your reunion and for making it through life this far.

Also, a salute, a "well done," and deep respect for your service to our
beloved country.  My family and I are tremendously grateful for what the ships crew
and families - those who have passed and those still living - have sacrificed for our nation.

I was a child during World War II when the Savage was built at Brown
Shipyard in Houston, where I grew up.  We were proud when she was launched and have been  proud of her ever since.

Have a good time.

Good luck.  Godspeed.

                                                                       Yours truly,
                                                                       Dan Rather
